Fight against climate disruption – 20th Climate Change Conference (Lima, December 1 to 12, 2014)

The Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change will take place from December 1 to 12 in Lima (COP20). This is a key step toward reaching a universal agreement on the fight against climate disruption in Paris in December 2015 (COP21).

The French delegation will be led by Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, and will include Ségolène Royal, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy, and Annick Girardin, Minister of State for Development and Francophony. Laurence Tubiana, Ambassador and Special Representative of Laurent Fabius for COP21, will be part of this delegation.

The goal of the Lima Conference is to start identifying points of consensus and define a common approach for determining the national contributions that each country must make during the first quarter of 2015.

On December 12 in Lima, Laurent Fabius and the French delegation will officially launch preparations for the 2015 Paris Conference (COP21-CMP11). In its capacity as host of the future presidency of the COP, France will listen to the views of all members of the conference in order to build consensus and reach a universal agreement at the end of 2015.
