Poliomyelitis (polio): Information to the French community [fr]
On the basis of the recommendations of the WHO (World Health Organization) that you find in the attached document, the Pakistani authorities are taking steps to ensure that any person, who resides in Pakistan for more than one month, should be able to prove that he/she has been vaccinated against the virus of poliomyelitis (polio), while boarding at airport and for all international travels. It is therefore strongly recommended to the members of the French community in Pakistan to bring their vaccination book with them, with reference to vaccination against polio. For those among you, who have been already vaccinated in France, you have received the vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus and polio (DTP) http://vosdroits.service-public.fr/particuliers/F704.xhtml; another vaccination should be done every 10 years for adults.
Do not hesitate to contact your doctor to make sure that you are up to date regarding vaccination against polio, in order to avoid any inconvenience during your next trip abroad, while travelling from Pakistan. Keep yourself informed, through press, of any possible evolution of checking that could be implemented at airports. It is strongly recommended to use the yellow vaccination book, bilingual French/English, issued by WHO.
Do not forget to keep your vaccination book with you, prior to traveling abroad !
