Visit to Pakistan of Deputy Director of the Scientific and Research Cooperation department of the French Ministry for Foreign Affairs
The Head of the Scientific and Research Cooperation Department (French Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Mr. Christian THIMONIER, visited Pakistan on Sunday, December 10 and Monday, December 11.
The purpose of the visit was to launch a bilateral cooperation programme, which would lead to a reinforcement of the scientific and technological relationship between France and Pakistan.
The objective of the programme implemented under this arrangement will be to promote and support scientific and technological cooperation between French and Pakistani researchers in the public, non-government and private sectors The programme is open to all fields of research.
Every year a call for proposals will be held to identify high-quality proposals for strategically focussed leading-edge projects and workshops between French and Pakistani researchers, and both countries will contribute on an equal basis to the funding of the programme within the available budget, for a duration of two years.
Support granted by Pakistan and France to the research teams will be complementary to the resources provided by the scientific partners. Funding under this programme will be intended to contribute to the international overhead costs of the projects, the cost of international visits (mainly travel expenses and daily allowances) and organization of workshops.
An agreement draft will be submitted soon to the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Science and Technology.
