Terrorist attack - Message from the Embassy of France in Pakistan
Last night, 14 of July 2016, in Nice, a terrorist attack targeted women, men and children gathered together to celebrate our national day. Our sincerest thoughts are with their families and their relatives with whom we share their pain and emotion.
The President of the Republic has ordered three days of national mourning, until Monday 18 of July. Consequently, the French music concerts scheduled tonight in Lahore and Sunday evening in Islamabad have been canceled. The reception for the national day scheduled Saturday night in Lahore has been transformed into a ceremony of remembrance to pay tribute to the memories of the victims of the attack.
The terrorist threat that is targeting France and French nationals is not limited to the homeland. Therefore, it remains indispensable to renew vigilance in an already sensitive local security context. It is especially advised to avoid crowded areas (malls, markets) and public gatherings or demonstrations. It is also recommended to change itineraries and habits.
The Embassy of France in Pakistan and the Consulate general of France in Karachi are fully mobilized to keep you informed and to offer assistance, in coordination with local authorities and the chefs d’îlot. If needed, you can reach the Embassy or the Consulate by calling the emergency numbers featured on their websites.
