You will find listed here the supporting documents required depending on the purpose of the trip and your status while in France. Please select the visa that relates to your situation:

Tourism

1. Short-stay visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant. In case of minor(s), form should be signed by both parents.

6. Original and photocopy of Family Registration Certificate issued by NADRA (in English or with a certified translation if in Urdu)

7. For underage children (under 18) travelling with a single parent, a written consent of the other parent is required with photocopy of his CNIC card.

8. Original signed letter of the applicant’s company/employer stating name, position, salary, duration of employment, address and contact numbers of the employer, purpose and duration of visit to the Schengen state(s). If the applicant is a “student”, original signed letter from the applicant’s school/college or University.

9. Supporting documents of personal income :

• Original bank statements of the last six months

• National Tax Number Certificate (NTM) for the previous two years and proof of income tax payment (FBR)

• Last three salary slips

10. Accommodation proof (confirmed hotel reservation, rent agreement clearly stating your name, rental period dates and accommodation address) covering the entire period of travel. See possible waiver of hotel reservation (in France only)

11. Copy of flight booking(s).

12. If the trip is a package tour, attach detailed itinerary.

13. Original AND copy of a travel medical insurance policy of not less than 30,000 Euros. The policy must cover medical and hospitalisation expenses for the entire period of valid stay on Schengen territory as well as repatriation costs. Consult valid list of authorized insurance companies in Pakistan as agreed by Schengen partners in Islamabad.

Visiting friends and family

• copy of his identity card/passport, if French citizen, or French resident card if not

• any original AND copy of document (NADRA family registration form, B-form…) showing family relationships between the applicant and the sponsor (in English or with a certified translation if in Urdu).

Business visitor

Academic/ scientific visit not exceeding 90 days

1. An ordinary passport or other recognised travel document valid for at least three months from the expiry date of the visa applied for. This document must have at least two fresh pages. Please attach copy of previous and cancelled passports, if any.

2. Short-stay visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

4. Letter of introduction stating purpose of visit on the applicant’s home institution/organisation letterhead paper, signed by competent authority.

5. The original and a copy of the “Convention d’accueil” duly filled and issued by an authorised organisation, bearing the seal of the prefecture, the signature of the host organisation’s head/competent authority and its seal. In this document, the hosting organisation certifies that the visa applicant will have sufficient financial resources to meet their expenses while in France, and undertakes to cover expenses for repatriation to the applicant’s country of origin, take health and hospitalisation cover for the applicant for their period of stay in France as well as an a cover for accidents that may arise during the applicant’s research or teaching assignments.

9. Attestation issued by the host institution confirming applicant’s admission and indicating the exact duration of the course/ programme and the discipline studied.

Appearing for competitive examinations

If you wish to appear for competitive / entrance examinations of an academic institution in France and, if accepted, join immediately without returning to Pakistan to apply for a long-stay visa, please read the section long-stay studies visa for details.

Internship (student or paid intern)

1. An ordinary passport or other recognised travel document valid for at least three months from the expiry date of the visa applied for. This document must have at least two fresh pages. Please attach copy of previous and cancelled passports, if any.

2. Short-stay visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

3. 2 recent photographs of the applicant. Please check photograph specifications here.

4. Signed letter of introduction stating purpose of visit from the applicant. If applicable, the letter on the applicant’s home institution/organisation letterhead paper, signed by competent authority.

5. An internship agreement. If the agreement does not provide for medical cover, the intern must submit a copy of travel medical insurance policy of not less than 30,000 Euros. The policy must cover medical and hospitalisation expenses for the entire period of valid stay on Schengen territory as well as repatriation costs. Consult list of authorized insurance companies in Pakistan as agreed by Schengen partners in Islamabad.

6. Copy of confirmed round trip air tickets.

7. Accommodation proof (hotel reservation/ lease bearing applicant’s name, dates of stay and accommodation address) or any other document stating that accommodation expenses will be borne or provided (e.g. if accommodation arrangements are included in the internship agreement).

- last three salary slips. For paid interns, living expenses must mandatorily match the growth-indexed minimum wage, i.e. 1,430.22 euros as on 1st January 2013.

Au pair student

6. Admission or pre-admission letter from an academic institution.

7. Supporting documents of educational qualifications (degrees, grade/mark sheets, etc.).

Foreign spouse of a French national

4. Official proof that your spouse holds French nationality (any one of the following):

- valid national identity card

- ordinary electronic passport

- certificate of French nationality

- certified copy of a naturalisation decree or conferral of French nationality on your spouse.

5. French family record booklet or copy of complete French marriage certificate.

Dependent or non-dependent foreign parent/grandparent of a major French national or his/her foreign spouse

Documents to be attached to your visa application

6. Proof of family ties between descendant requesting visa and French or foreign spouse of a French citizen :

• original copy of French marriage certificate with line of descent for the French and foreign spouse ;

• original copy of French birth certificate of the French descendant or certified copy of the birth certificate for the foreign spouse, depending on family ties with visa applicant.

8. Supporting documents proving the dependent applicant’s stated relationship with the French national, and official proof of covering the applicant’s expenses (same residential address, regular/frequent bank transfers, etc.).

Foreign visitors (who require a visa) for marriage with French national

Spouse of a European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA), or Switzerland national

(Note: The European Union is made up of the following countries, apart from France: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.)

For long-stay visa applications: Spouses (except if they are French nationals) of EU nationals must submit a short-stay visa application, specifying on the form that they intend to settle in France. On their arrival in France, they will have two months to apply for a residence permit (“carte de séjour”).

6. If the marriage certificate was issued by a non-EU country, it must be legalized by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of the country concerned, or its consular representation in Pakistan.

7. Justifications of the stay in France of the EU/EEA or Switzerland national :

Domestic staff accompanying French or foreign employer

(N.B.: This visa permits its holder to travel but not work in other Schengen Area States.)

1. An ordinary passport or other recognised travel document valid for at least three months from the expiry date of the visa applied for. This document must have at least two fresh pages. Please attach copy of previous and cancelled passports, if any.

2. Short-stay visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant.

4. CERFA form n°13647*02 stamped by the Regional Directorate for Companies, Competition, Consumption, Labour and Employment (Direction Régionale des Entreprises, de la Concurrence, de la Consommation, du Travail et de l’Emploi - DIRECCTE). The employer must apply for this in advance.

5. An undertaking from the employer to the effect that they will bear all the expenses of the employee’s stay.

6. An affidavit from the employer certifying that they will pay all employer social security contributions to the URSSAF.

7. Copy of travel medical insurance policy of not less than 30,000 Euros. The policy must cover medical and hospitalisation expenses for the entire period of valid stay on Schengen territory as well as repatriation costs. Shorty stay, temporary work permit (employees and artistes)

NB :This visa concerns applicants who will stay in France for no more than 90 days for carrying out a paid profession and paid or unpaid entertainers.

6. Documents and permits necessary for carrying out a professional activity: e.g. a work contract stamped by the Regional Directorate for Companies, Competition, Consumption, Labour and Employment (Direction Régionale des Entreprises, de la Concurrence, de la Consommation, du Travail et de l’Emploi - DIRECCTE) or a contract stamped by a Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs (DRAC).

7. Third country nationals residing in Pakistan must provide supporting documents attesting to the legality and the authorised duration of their residence here.

Please note:

A work permit for France does not entitle its holder to work in another Schengen State.

An entertainer visiting France for professional contacts is not required to submit a contract. In such cases they must apply as “Business visitors”.

The visa issued covers the duration of the work contract, but may have an additional 15 days. To stay longer than specified in the terms of the contract, the applicant must add the relevant documents for the sections “tourism”, “visiting friends”, business visitor”, etc., depending on the reason for extending their stay.

For child entertainers : Apart from the documents and permits required for carrying out a professional activity (e.g. a work contract stamped by the Regional Directorate for Companies, Competition, Consumption, Labour and Employment - DIRECCTE), an entertainer aged less than 16 years must submit a permit issued by the Child Entertainers Board (Commission des enfants du spectacle) of the competent Sanitation and Social Affairs Directorate (DASS), which the show organiser must apply for. Labour laws (Articles L3163-1 and 3163-2) prohibit children from working at night (8.00 pm to 6.00 am for 16 year-olds, and 10.00pm to 6.00 am for those above 16 and below 18 years of age). For night shows, the organiser must obtain prior exemption from the Labour Inspection authority.

For unpaid foreign entertainers performing in a festival : Foreign entertainers, who are invited for a short stay on French territory by an organiser to perform as part of a festival or fair, are exempted from obtaining a temporary work permit (APT). This exceptional procedure applies solely to entertainers. To avail of this exemption, entertainers must submit an APT exemption certificate issued by DIRECCTE. If the entertainer cannot furnish this document, they will be required to produce an APT.
