Send-off ceremony held for 85 HEC scholars going to France [fr]
A send-off ceremony for Pakistani scholars who are going to pursue studies in France was held at Higher Education Commission (HEC) on August 25. 85 students have gone through a merit-based selection process and will have their master’s and PhD studies in French universities fully funded by the HEC.
HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed congratulated the selected scholars and the stressed the fact that 10 000 more PhD will be needed in the coming years in Pakistan to ensure the quality of the higher education system and to foster the economic development of the country.
Mr Pierre Fournier, chargé d’affaires a.i. of the Embassy of France saluted the outstanding increase in the number of scholars, from 7 in 2014 to 85 in 2015. He urged the students to play the role of Ambassadors of their home country once in France and wished them to also become all Ambassadors of France when they come back to Pakistan.
