Paying tributes to Mr. Jehangir Malik, former Honorary Consul General of France in Lahore
The death of Jehangir Malik, Honorary Consul General of France in Lahore, on November 2, 2006, after continuous illness, has left a great emptiness in the French community.
All those who knew him always appreciated him and respected his grand human qualities, his generosity, his ability to win over adversity and to love life. His end of life has also revealed us his great courage. His death raises a similar emotion in the French community for whom he spared nor his time nor his devotion, as well as in the Pakistani society where he had an eminent role in many structures and institutions. His friendship network was immense. He will remain among many of us a reference of altruism, an example of gentleness for everybody, the most humble to most powerful. Rare are those among us who do not owe him a sign of friendship and solicitude.
During thirty years, Jehangir Malik performed without failure his consular duties. He was also Vice-President of the Alliance Française of Lahore to which he always brought an enduring support.
On behalf of the French community in Pakistan, the French Embassy pays homage to Jehangir Malik and presents its sincere condolences to his wife, Shala, and their daughter Natasha. They can be ensured of our support in this hour of grief.
