Pakistan : murder of Mr Khalil Dale, ICRC humanitarian worker
Excerpts from the Daily Press Briefing given by the Deputy Spokesman of The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs
(Paris, April 30, 2012)
France utterly condemns the barbaric murder of Mr Khalil Dale, a British humanitarian worker from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in the city of Quetta, Pakistan.
Mr Dale, who was kidnapped in January, had been in charge of an ICRC humanitarian aid programme in Quetta for nearly a year. He cared for all victims of fighting in Pakistan and Afghanistan, without discrimination.
France pays tribute to the memory and work of Khalil Dale, whose sense of commitment and courage took him to such difficult conflict regions as Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
In these painful circumstances, France shares the grief of Mr Dale’s family and close friends and extends her most sincere condolences to them.
France calls on the Pakistani authorities to shed full light on this despicable act and relentlessly pursue its perpetrators in order to bring them to justice./.
