Murder of a UNHCR Pakistani staff member- Statement by the Spokesperson of the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs

“France condemns in the strongest possible
terms the murder of a UNHCR Pakistani staff this morning in Peshawar. The
kidnapping attempt he resisted also resulted in the death of a security guard of
an IDP camp while another UNHCR staff was injured.
France conveys its condolences to the
Pakistani Authorities and to the families and colleagues of the two victims.
Attacks targeting United Nations staff and
humanitarian personnels affect the entire international community and constitute
a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
France renews her support to the UNHCR for its
work across the world and pays tribute to its staff who accomplish their mission
of protection and assistance with dedication, often in life threatening
