"Legion d’Honneur" conferred on Dr. Fazle Hadi, Executive Director, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Islamabad
On May 29, 2006, the Ambassador of France, H.E. Mr. Régis de BELENET, has conferred on Professor Syed Fazle Hadi, Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, the title of “Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur”.
This high level French honorary distinction is bestowed in recognition of his remarkable professional career.
Wherever he has carried out his duties, in Pakistan or abroad, Professor Fazle Hadi has contributed a great deal.
As the Executive Director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, he led the hospital into the expansion of its service facilities. These include a state of the art centrefor victims of burns and a cardiac centre.
On top of it all, the PIMS has played a focal role in the setting up of medical care for the wounded of the 8th October earthquake. It became the Centre of Operations for the Ministry of Health and coordinated the sending of medical teams to all the affected areas.
Professor Syed Fazle Hadi also developed international cooperation particularly between PIMS and the Saint-Antoine Hospital of Paris, which enabled him to set up of first Intensive Care Unit of northern Pakistan.
