Lahore celebrates the French language : poems competition at Aitchison [fr]
Like every year, the Aitchison College of Lahore organized a cultural event dedicated to the francophone poetry on Friday, 18th January 2013 in the evening.
An important number of local educational institutions teaching French, from primary schools to universities and institutes, took part in the competition. A diversity of recreational activities and plays were displayed to the delight of the audience in between poems recitations. The theme selected this year, the History of France, enabled the writers to highlight two important French figures: Jeanne d’Arc and Napoleon.
The Beacon House College (Newlands of Defence), Learning Alliance (Gulberg and Defence), Scardale, and l’Ecole Internationale de Choueifat were represented by their young students. The institutions of higher education, Government Fatima College, Punjab University, University of Management and Technology and Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design also participated in this gathering.
Like every year, the Alliance Française of Lahore took part in the competition managed by Aitchison College, one of its most important official partners. The Principal of this institution, Mr. Shameem Khan, and Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, Ambassador of France to Pakistan, honoured the great number of participants by their presence.
