On Saturday 5th of October, the French Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, inaugurated at the Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) the screening of the documentary film “Home”, in the presence of its director, Mr. Yann Arthus Bertrand.
Spanning 54 countries and 120 locations, all seen from the air, the film captures the Earth’s most amazing landscapes, showcasing its incomparable beauty and acknowledging its vulnerability. “Home” is a unique film that approaches the current debate about climate change from a whole new angle using only aerial photography, going well beyond the scientific reports, and giving viewers the opportunity to see for themselves how the planet is changing. Since its release throughout the world in June 2009, across all media platforms – theatre, television, DVD and Internet – more than 400 million people has watched “Home”. Today, the film has been translated into many languages and broadcasted on numerous television channels.
Speaking on the occasion to the audience after the screening Mr. Arthus-Bertrand explained the film’s core message, which is “it’s too late to be a pessimist”, as the overconsumption depletes Earth from its resources. His objective is to raise awareness and thus trigger debates among the world citizens. The French Ambassador concluded the evening by stressing the efforts of France in helping Pakistan to address the challenges of climate change by supporting sustainable energy projects such as hydropower and windmill.
