French and German project-"Transit - puppet without borders"



With the support of the Franco-German fund for cultural projects in a third country, the Alliance Française de Lahore and Annemarie Schimmel Haus in collaboration with Rafi Peer Theater Workshop and the Museum of Puppetry of Lahore had invited two puppeteers from France, Elisabetta Potasso and Rita Amouya, to work in collaboration with a Pakistani puppeteer, Sheryar Qureshi, and a German set designer, Stefan Schultz, in order to carry out puppet shows on the topic of Travel.

After one month of residence in Lahore and training workshops on the creation and manipulations of puppets and set design of puppet shows with the students of the National College of Arts and of Beacon University House - School of Visual Arts, the artists presented their show entitled “Transit - Puppet without borders” at the World Performing Arts Festival in Lahore during two performances which received a very good response from the audience; then they started a national tour performing in Islamabad and Karachi respectively in the French and German centres present in these cities.

This was the first and unique experiment in Pakistan which gained great success with the public and the quality of this project was underlined by the Pakistani press and television
