“France is following developments in the situation in Uzbekistan with concern. It condemns the violence that has sent the city of Andijan into mourning and has resulted in numerous victims, particularly among the civilian population.
It is up to the authorities to react to the situation in such a way that avoids creating victims and fully respects human rights.
France expresses its condolences to the families of the victims. It invites all the concerned parties, the authorities as well as the representatives of civil society, to act peacefully and through dialogue to bring an end to the current crisis and implement the necessary reforms.
Q - Is a European reaction to the situation in Uzbekistan under preparation?
I can confirm that consultations are under way among members of the European Union./”
