Climate - Publication of Norway’s contribution to COP21 – Statement by Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development and COP21 President (March 27, 2015)
I welcome the publication by Norway of its national contribution to COP21, which sets a target of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 40% compared to 1990 levels by 2030.
Following those made by Switzerland and the EU, this announcement confirms the commitment of European countries to the fight against climate disruption.
I call on all countries, especially developed countries, to submit, as soon as possible, their contributions reflecting the efforts they believe they will be able to make with respect to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions, and, if applicable, with respect to adaptation, in accordance with the decision taken at COP19 in Warsaw and confirmed at COP20 in Lima.
Indeed, these contributions are critical to the success of COP21.
