Climate – Climate finance in developing countries (Paris, March 31, 2015)

Mr. Laurent Fabius, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, will participate in the closing session of the “Climate Finance Forum: Sharing solutions in developing countries,” together with Mr. Michel Sapin, Minister of Finance and Public Accounts, on Tuesday, March 31.

This forum, organized by the International Development Finance Club (IDFC) will bring together financial actors – public as well as private, national and international, and from the North as well as the South – involved in development financing and the fight against climate disruption. The IDFC is a network of 22 development banks from all over the world, including the French Development Agency, which invested €80 billion in the fight against climate change in 2013.

In the run-up to the 2015 Paris Climate Conference, this forum is aimed at mobilizing international finance in support of the fight against climate disruption. It will bring together a broad coalition of financial actors with the aim of focusing on three objectives: defining common methodologies to quantify climate financing; increasing public funding; strengthening the multiplier effect of public investment on private actors involved in financing.
